China Executes 5 Who Infringe Children's Rights

China's Supreme People's Court announced Tuesday that local courts today executed five criminals who had seriously infringed the legal rights of children.

Zhang Yong, a 29-year-old farmer in southwest China's Guizhou Province, smuggled 12 children between 1993-97, and Huang Shengzao and Huang Shenggui, two villagers in east China's Jiangxi Province, trafficked in 15 underage people between 1994-99.

Bu Xiaogang, an unemployed 23-year-old man in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, abducted a five-year-old boy and demanded 500, 000 yuan in ransom from his parents in July, 1999. Later, the child died after Bu buried him alive to eliminate evidence.

Du Honghong, a 28-year-old villager in Shanxi Province in north China, was sentenced to five years in prison in 1987 for rape. In 1997 and 1999, Du broke into a primary school dormitory twice and raped 10 schoolgirls.
