China's First Marine Savage Airport

Construction work on China's first marine savage airport started Sunday in the town of Gaodong in Shanghai's Pudong New Area.

Two 200-meter-long and 30-meter-wide runways will be built to accommodate helicopters used for marine salvage operations as well as other facilities including telecom and navigation equipment, oil supplies and fire fighting facilities, local sources said.

The Airport will be completed in one year. By then, an efficient marine savage network will be established, including helicopters, marine vessels and local hospitals.

The Airport covers an area of 136,700 square meters and belongs to the Shanghai Savage Bureau attached to the Ministry of Communications.
