Ancient Frescos Found in Northwest ChinaFive colored frescos dating back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279) were recently discovered in a tomb on a cliff in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.The five frescos cover a total area of two square meters, and each portrays a distinct scene. When combined together, they form a complete picture. Dozens of people can be clearly seen in the frescos, including servants carrying a seal and gifts in their hands and the master in official uniform. The frescos depict a variety of occasions such as festivals, work, and sacrificial rites. The discovery is a valuable historic object for the study of social and economic development as well as daily life in the Song Dynasty, said one Chinese archeologist. |
