Army Paper Hosts Contest on National Defense

To create public awareness about the military and national defense, the Liberation Army Daily is sponsoring a contest on China's national defence over the past 100 years.

The contest consists of 100 questions involving a wide range of knowledge about modern Chinese history and the history of the People's Liberation Army.

The questions include "When did the Eight Powers Alliance invade China?" and "Who is responsible for the defense of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (SAR) and the Macao SAR?"

The sponsor listed 18 reference books for the contest, including collections of instructions and articles by late Chinese leaders Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.
