China Stresses Importance of Technology in Afforestation
The State Forestry Administration of China has launched a technology support program for anti-desertification engineering projects in key areas, it is learned Tuesday.
Administration officials said the program will increase the technical content of anti-desertification engineering projects, improve the quality of these projects, and ensure a satisfactory environmental impact.
In reaction to sand storms in the Beijing region, the administration drafted a separate technology support program for an afforestation project in the Chinese capital.
The program emphasizes the importance of scientific planning, the promotion of new technologies, engineering quality supervision, staff training, project monitoring, and evaluation of afforestation projects.
