Popular Efforts Called to Fight Droughts in China

Most areas in north China have been under the ravage of severe droughts since the year began, as is known from the State Headquarters of Flood Control and Drought Relief.

Heaven gives nearly no rain in some parts of southern China and people are making every effort to fight drought in those areas drought hit.

As things stand now in those parts of China, people's governments at all levels from up down below have all been mobilized and demanded to wrest rain yields by doing a good job of summer harvest, planting and field management and of drought relief work. Meetings have even been called by local authorities in Shanxi and Gansu to organize people from all walks of life to join in the battle to fight drought, with an allocation of RMB15 million and 6 million yuan respectively made.
