FM Spokeswoman on Sino-Indian Ties

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Tuesday that Sino-Indian relations is now stepping into an improvement and development process, thanks to efforts from both sides.

China has always attached great importance to developing good- neighborly ties with India, Zhang said at a regular press conference here in response to a question on Sino-Indian and Sino- Russian ties.

Indian President Narayanan's ongoing visit to China has further promoted the growth of Sino-Indian ties, she added.

On Sino-Russian relationship, Zhang noted that both countries have already established strategic cooperative partnership. "Sino- Russian relationship is very good," she said.

It's a new type of state-to-state relationship featuring non- alignment, non-confrontation and non-direction at the third party, she added.

She hoped that Sino-Russian ties could achieve further development.
