FM Spokeswoman on UN Security Council Reform

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue stressed Tuesday that the representation rights of developing countries should be considered in the reforms of the United Nations (UN) Security Council.

China has always advocated that the UN Security Council should adopt appropriate reforms, Zhang said at a regular press conference.

"Now that the UN has existed for over 50 years, the current composition of the UN Security Council could not reflect the change in the international community and increase in UN members."

China has always held that the UN reform should give priority consideration to the representation rights of developing countries in the UN, especially in the UN Security Council, she said.
