Accident in Shaanxi Claims 26 Lives
A serious traffic accident Sunday in Jiaxian County in northwest China's Shaanxi Province has left 26 dead and 19 others injured.
A bus carrying 45 passengers fell down a 30-meter-high cliff as it was turning around on Yujia Highway at 3:30 pm yesterday. Twenty-three people died at the scene of the accident.
The local government organized rescue efforts immediately. Two of the injured died on the way to the hospital, and one died at the hospital despite all medical efforts.
A medical team has arrived in Jiaxian County and the doctors are treating the remaining 19 injured.
Local police are investigating the cause of the accident.
