China's Top Lawmaker Watches Children's Performance
Chinese top lawmaker Li Peng on May 28 watched a song and dance performance presented by local children to mark the June 1 International Children's Day.
The performance, called "Dream Realized in the New Century", was presented by the Blue Sky Kids Performing Troupe.
At the end of the performance, Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, and his wife Zhu Lin walked onto the stage to shake hands with the performers. Li is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
The performance presented an outlook on the People's Republic of China and the dreams of generations of Chinese in revitalizing the nation.
