Chinese Information Industry Minister Arrives in Cuba

China's Information Industry Minister Wu Jichuan arrived Saturday in Havana for a four-day official visit to Cuba.

Wu told the press at the international airport that his visit aims at promoting the development of informatics, communications and radio transmission between the two countries.

The Chinese minister will meet with Council of State Vice President Carlos Lage and with Informatics and Communications Minister Ignacio Gonzalez Planas.

Wu Jichuan and his entourage visited Saturday afternoon the Seventh Informatics International Fair 2000 being held in this capital since Tuesday.

He will also tour the Havana Historical Center and will visit the Central Digital Research Institute, a digital telephone switchboard and a television set assembling plant.

China and Cuba will sign a memorandum of cooperation in informatics.
