Andean Countries Back China's Entry into WTO

China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) is of great significance for the Andean Community and all Andean countries support China becoming a WTO member, community General Director Victor Rico said Friday.

At a forum on business opportunities between the Andean Community and China, Rico said that China plays a role in holding the balance in the world and it is important to develop economic and trade relations between the community and China.

Trade between China and the community, which consists of Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, amounted to 5.98 billion U.S. dollars during the period of 1990-1999, with 3.2 billion dollars being exports to China and 2.78 billion dollars imports from that country, said Rico.
