Three People Missing in Tugboat-Container Ship Collision

A tugboat collided with a container ship Thursday afternoon near the estuary of the Pearl River in south China's Guangdong Province.

According to local sources, 11 people aboard the tugboat " Hangfeng 419" were rescued, while three others remain missing after the tugboat sank.

The tugboat belongs to the Guangzhou Navigation Channel Bureau while the "Xiangxu" container ship is owned by the Zhonghai Group Containers Co.

On receiving an emergency call, the Guangzhou Wrecking Bureau, along with relevant local maritime supervision organizations in Guangzhou, went to the site of the accident for rescue operations.

Efforts to find the three missing persons are continuing, said the local sources.
