China Builds Advanced Space Observation, Control Network

China has created an advanced space observation and control network that over the next ten years can meet the requirements of China's medium- and low-altitude orbit satellites and some high-altitude satellites.

The network includes a control center and several observation and control stations that are linked by a telecommunications system.

Experts in Beijing on Thursday said that as an important part of space technology, the special technological network is designed for tracking, observing and control of spacecraft such as rockets and satellites.

The Internet-connected network is under remote surveillance and control and is proved to be much more effective than its predecessor.

The network was designed by Beijing Tracking and Telecommunications Research Institute.

Trial use of the network indicated that it could provide observation and control support to the test launches and orbits of carrier rockets and other spacecraft at different altitudes.

An expert from the research institute said the new network was set up to cater to the rapid development of China's space technology.
