Yugoslavia Not to Extradite Citizens to The Hague: MinisterThe Federal Republic of Yugoslavia will not extradite any of its citizens to The Hague-based international tribunal under any circumstances, Justice Minister Petar Jojic said Wednesday. In an open letter to chief prosecutor of the international tribunal Carla Del Ponte, the minister said his country will carry out the policy at any cost. Del Ponte sent him a letter on April 26, asking the Justice Ministry for cooperation in extraditing Yugoslav nationals to The Hague tribunal. He told Del Ponte in the letter that both the Yugoslav constitution and criminal law prevent extradition of Yugoslav citizens to other countries. The tribunal has been turned into an evil criminal organization as it merely carries out policies of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) led by the United States, covers the crimes committed by NATO in Yugoslavia last year and brings groundless accusations against Yugoslav citizens, he added. NATO launched an aggression against Yugoslavia in March last year, unleashing months of massive air strikes against the country. |
