Electrification of Chengdu-Kunming Railway Going On Smoothly

The rebuilding of Dushupu Station, an important project on the Chengdu-Kunming railway in southwest China, was completed on May 25.

Dushupu Station is one of the key stations on the southern section of the Chengdu-Kunming railway, and reconstruction and expansion of the station is important for the electrification of the entire railway.

The reconstruction project includes building 16.5 kilometers of railway, 67 groups of switchblades, 15 culverts with a total length of 286.6 meters, and other projects.

The reconstruction project began on April 19 this year.

The 1,085.8-kilometer-long railway starts at Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, and ends at Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province. The railway first opened in 1970.

Electrification of the railway began on March 18, 1993, and is expected to be completed this year.
