More Chinese to Travel in ROK
It is reported that in recent years, along with the opening of tour to the Republic of Korea (ROK), and people's deeper understanding of this country, the ROK has become a new destination for Chinese citizens to visit and it's predicted there will be a big growth in the number of Chinese visitors to the ROK.
Since May 1, the ROK has simplified the entry formalities for tourist group of over 10 persons both from home and abroad. Under this measure, each foreign tourist can finish all the entry and exit formalities in less than 20 minutes.
This year, the Republic of Korea will intensify its promotion in China. Beginning from June, the ROK's new TV advertisement on tourism will be broadcast at the prime time in Beijing, Shanghai and other big Chinese cities. At the same time, China will lift the restriction on the present nine provinces and cities, so that all Chinese people can visit the ROK for the travel purpose. All these measures will boost the number of Chinese tourists to the ROK.
Last year, the number of Chinese and ROK visitors to each other's countries exceeded 1.3 million, of which 320,000 were Chinese visiting the ROK. From last January to April, the number of Chinese tourists to the ROK reached 135,000, a rise of 52.7 percent; that of ROK tourists to China from last January to March reached 279,000, an increase of 45 percent. The number of Chinese and ROK visitors to each others countries is expected to reach 1.8 million this year.
