Beijing has added ten large tracts of green land, each covering an area of more than 5,000 mu (some 333 hectares), to the city proper in the past two months.
This is part of the greenbelt project launched in the Chinese capital earlier this year, according to local greening officials at a working meeting in Beijing on May 25.
The greenbelts contain fast-growing trees, high-quality fruit trees, parks of various kinds and nurseries, a local official said, adding that Beijing intends to continue its greening campaign around the suburbs.
