Hainan to Be Asia Forum's Permanent Venue

The Bo'ao tourism development zone in the city of Qionghai in south China's Hainan Province will be the permanent venue for the Asia Forum.

The Asia Forum is a non-governmental international conference begun on the basis of proposals put forward by Bob Hawke, former Australian prime minister, Fidel Ramos, former president of the Philippines, and Morihiro Hosokawa, former Japanese prime minister.

Situated near the estuary of the Wanquan River, the development zone has beautiful tropical seaside scenery and many hot springs.

The zone is currently being upgraded, and will be ready for the first preparatory meeting of the Asia Forum scheduled for this October. By then, government leaders, business people, sociologists, and financial experts from Asian countries and Australia will be invited to the forum to study and discuss major issues affecting the region such as economic and social developments, in order to promote cooperation and exchanges among the nations of the region.
