Encyclopedia on Chinese Towns Published

China has published an encyclopedia about its nearly 20,000 small towns, covering the population and the major products and market demand of the towns, as well as projects in need of funds.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs has compiled information on the small towns in China's central and western regions for inclusion in the book, in an effort to cater to the demands of the present national campaign to develop the country's vast western region. The book is published by the Xueyuan Publishing House, and provides the latest accurate, complete, and authoritative information.

Authorities note that the book offers a large numbers of business opportunities in an authoritative reference book that helps overseas and domestic entrepreneurs to expand into China's rural market.

Statistics show that the output value of township enterprises in China's eastern, central, and western regions reached 6.62 trillion, 3.44 trillion, and 780 billion yuan, respectively, in 1999.
