More Fire Insulation Zones for China's Forests
China will step up construction of fire insulation zones in its forest and grassland areas to prevent disastrous fires, according to the State Forestry Administration (SFA).
A SFA official said that these fire insulation zones in high- risk areas must be 15 to 20 meters wide, while those in other areas must be 10 to 15 meters wide, and insulation zones must be built in all forest areas.
He said the state encourages individuals to participate in constructing fire insulation zones, and will provide them with certain subsidies for this purpose.
