Contracts Signed on Projects of Three Gorges
Contracts were signed yesterday on providing systems to adjust the speed of power generating units and create magnetic conditions for the power stations being constructed on the left bank of the Three Gorges.
The world-famous Alstom Power Electric Power Company of France and the Voith Siemens Hydropower Generation Gmbh & Co. KG won the bidding, which started on March 20. They are investing 12.76 million US dollars and 12.79 million US dollars in the projects.
The projects have attracted most of the global giants in the industry. After a month-long review of bids, a committee of experts submitted a recommendation to the State Council for approval.
Construction of the Three Gorges Project started seven years ago and has reached a crucial stage. It is scheduled to lay 5.4 million cubic meters of concrete and 38,000 tons of metal structures this year.
According to the contracts, the two overseas companies should transfer technology to China's domestic enterprises and help them raise their technological expertise.
