Railway for Energy Project Opens to Traffic
The major section of the Shuozhou-Huanghua Railway has just opened to traffic as part of an ambitious energy project which is expected to channel energy products -- mainly coal -- from western areas to east regions in China.
The completed section extends from Shenchi county in northern Shanxi Province to Suning county in northern Hebei Province. It is 420 kilometers long and has been finished four and a half months ahead of schedule.
The Shuozhou-Huanghua Railway, linking Shenchi county with Huanghua port in Hebei Province is about 588 kilometers long, and is expected to cost 17.4 billion yuan. The railway will be the second largest railway line for coal transportation from west to east China.
