HKSAR Signs Air Services Agreement with Mongolia

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) signed an Air Services Agreement Wednesday with Mongolia.

Stephen Ip, secretary for economic services of the HKSAR, signed the agreement on behalf of the HKSAR government while Mongolian Minister of Infrastructure Development G. Batkhuu signed on behalf of the government of Mongolia.

"I look forward to closer links between Hong Kong and Mongolia. I am encouraged by the fact that bilateral trade between Hong Kong and Mongolia has increased by more than 80 percent in 1999, and the number of Mongolian visitors coming to Hong Kong in the first three months of this year has more than doubled," said Ip at the signing ceremony.

"The Air Services Agreement provides a legal framework for the establishment and future expansion of our bilateral air links. I hope that with the conclusion of the agreement, there will soon be direct air services between Hong Kong and Mongolia," he said.

The HKSAR/Mongolia Air Services Agreement is the 43rd air services agreement signed by the HKSAR government.
