Defence Minister Meets Pakistani GuestsDefence Minister Chi Haotian met Tuesday with Pakistani Chief of the Naval Staff Abdul Aziz Mirza and his party.Chi, who is also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a State Councilor, said that China and Pakistan, two neighboring countries, enjoy a long-standing friendship. The armed forces of the two countries have kept high-level contacts and conducted exchange and cooperation in various fields, Chi noted. He said that he believes Mirza's current visit will further promote friendly cooperation between the two armed forces, especially the naval forces of the two countries. Chi thanked Pakistan for its consistent support to China on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet, and human rights. He also briefed the guests on the position of the Chinese government on the Taiwan issue. Mirza expressed his gratitude for China's support and help. He said that he hopes the two countries will continue to develop their brotherly friendship and reiterated Pakistan's "one China" position. Yang Huaiqing, Political Commissar of the Naval Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, was among those present at the meeting.
