China-India Relations "Improving and Developing": SpokeswomanForeign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Tuesday that the relations between China and India are in a process of "improving and developing."Zhang made the remarks at a regular press conference while answering reporter's questions on the upcoming state visit to China by Indian President Kocheril Raman Narayanan between May 28 and June 3, the first since he assumed the presidency. The spokeswoman said that China pays great attention to developing good-neighborly cooperative relations with India. "Under the joint efforts of the two sides, relations between China and India have entered a process of improving and developing, " she said. Presidents of China and India sent messages of congratulations to each other on April 1, the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations. A series of commemorative activities were held in both countries. "We hope that the bilateral relations can grow on a healthy track through the Indian president's upcoming visit to China," she said. On the border issue, which she described as a complicated one left over from the past, the spokeswoman said that the two sides can create a favorable environment to reach a fair solution so long as they respect historical facts and make friendly consultations on the basis of mutual understanding and accommodation. |
