Vice-President Hu Jintao met Tuesday with Joao Lourenco, general secretary of the People's Liberation Movement of Angola and his delegation.
Hu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said that the people of the two countries have forged a deep friendship when Angola was fighting for national independence.
Relations between the two countries and parties have been developing in recent years while mutual understanding and friendship between the two sides has also been promoted. China appreciates and thanks Angola's consistent support for China on the issues of Taiwan and human rights, he said. Noting that the CPC and the People's Liberation Movement of Angola are ruling parties, Hu said that in the new circumstances, increased cooperation between the two parties will serve to promote their respective undertakings, and help advance state-to- state relations on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
Lourenco said that relations between the two parties and countries have stood the test of time, noting that China has long supported Angola when it was facing difficulties.
He said that high-level exchanges between the two countries and cooperation in a variety of areas have instilled new vigor in bilateral relations and also strengthened friendship between the two countries and parties.
Angola adheres to the One-China policy, and it sincerely hopes that China will resolve the Taiwan issue as soon as possible, he said.
The Angolan delegation is visiting China at the invitation of the CPC.
