Japan's Past War against China Aggressive: Mori

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori said Monday in Tokyo that Japan's 1937-1945 war against China was an act of aggression.

"From a stance to reflect on the past unfortunate history, I clearly acknowledge that the past war against China was an aggressive war," Mori told a session of the Settlement Administrative Supervisory Committee of the House of Representatives.

Mori's remarks, made in response to a question from an opposition lawmaker asking whether Japan's past war against China was an aggressive war, revised his early vague explanation on the issue.

Mori said on April 24 that views on war depend on different historic backgrounds, and whether Japan launched an aggressive war against China in the past should be judged by people in the process of history.
