Study of Jiang's Directives Urged

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) and the Ministry of Supervision jointly issued a circular Monday, calling for further study of recent directives made by Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

Jiang, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, said in a recent inspection tour of south China's Guangdong that the key to running China well lies in the CPC, in its ideology, style of work, organization, discipline, capabilities and leadership.

The CPC will remain successful and enjoy the heartfelt support of the people of China so long as the party always earnestly represents the development requirements of China's advanced social productive forces, the progressive course of China's advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the Chinese people, Jiang said.

The circular noted that Jiang's directives represent a new view of the CPC's nature, goal and historic mission, a development of Marxist party-building theory and the new requirements for the whole party in the new situation.

It asked all discipline inspection and supervisory departments in the country to further study, grasp and carry out the directives and make them criteria for judging the success or failure of the discipline inspection and supervisory work.

The circular also called on the discipline inspection and supervisory departments to take concrete measures to combat all kinds of corruption.
