Shenyang to Become First City Using Nuclear Energy Heating
It is disclosed by relevant department that a program of using nuclear energy for city heat supply is operating in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province in northeast China. When the program is successfully carried out, Shenyang will become the world's first city using nuclear energy for heating.
Sources say, the department concerned will raise 1.4 billion yuan to build two low-temperature nuclear heat-supply reactors to solve the problem of heating in cities. When completed, the nuclear heat-supply reactors will cover an area of 10 million square meters, thereby bringing nuclear energy heat-supply to one-seventh of Shenyang's total heat-supply area.
