China Develops Higher Education for DisabledColleges and universities in China enrolled a total of 1,381 disabled students last year, with an enrollment rate taking 90% of those reaching the minimum marks of college admission for the disabled.Altogether over 6,300 disabled have got the chance to acquire a college education in higher education institutions in China in recent years. For their intelligence and hard, industrious spirit in study life in colleges, they have won wide respect among their young counterparts. There are as many as 998 education institutions set up at various levels for disabled in China. Of disabled students having received an education from these educational institutions along with those enrolled for study in higher education institutions, altogether some 580,000 have been turned out for various work posts in China. Available in China is now a complete education system that has been initially formed for the disabled from pre-schooling, compulsory education to high schools and vocational education up to higher learning. |
