Chinese Leader Ends Peru Visit

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), left Peru for home Sunday afternoon after a three-day official goodwill visit to the nation.

During his visit, the Chinese leader met with President Alberto Fujimori, Prime Minister Alberto Bustamante, Congress President Martha Hildebrandt, Foreign Minister Fernando De Trazegnies and other senior officials on bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.

Li was seen off at the airport by senior Peruvian officials and Chinese Ambassador to Peru Ren Jingyu. Li's entourage also left Lima for home on the same plane.

This is the first time for a CPPCC National Committee chairman to visit this South American country.

Besides Peru, Li also visited Canada, Venezuela, and Trinidad and Tobago.
