Ninety-eight cadres from China's provincial trade unions have been competing for 11 departmental deputy head positions within the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) in the last two days.
An ACFTU official noted that it is the first time for ACFTU to openly select cadres. The ACFTU was asked to follow the principle of "openness, fairness and selection of the best candidate through competition," according to today's "Worker's Daily".
From April 1, ACFTU began to prepare for this cadre selecting work. The final round of cadre assessments is still being processed.
The ACFTU official said that openly selecting cadres aims to provide a channel for capable and talented cadres and promote competition among them.
