At a recent national computer contest, dozens of handicapped people showed up. And, their talent and skill served them well in assembling PCs, doing design work, making web pages, and other techniques.
In a previous Internet contest, the champion was Chen Fanhong, who has a physical disability but is mentally sharp.
Some people believe that these people's success stories are proof of the Chinese expression "physically handicapped but not my will". They have also helped other people see the new opportunities that the computer industry offers people with disabilities.
About 10 percent of China's 48 million people with physical disabilities have got jobs after receiving some training in computers.
