China Crashs Denmark 3-0 to Pocket Easy Uber Cup

China Crushes Denmark 3-0, Retaining Uber Cup
Defending champions Chinese women's badminton team defeated Denmark 3-0 in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, retaining the Uber Cup.

The only challenge the Danish team can pose to the Chinese is keeping them on court as long as possible.

During the first battle, world No 1 Camilla Martin of Denmark lost to No 2 Gong Zhichao by two straight sets, 9-11, 5-11.

Camilla's last triumph over Gong was in 1997 when she won the Copenghagen Masters, but the record is 3-1 in favour of Gong.

First doubles Helene Kirkeggard and Rikke Olsen also lost to China's world No 1 pair Ge Fei and Gu Jun by two staight sets. They failed to outpace the Chinese pair in the previous 12 meetings.

Second singles Mette Sorensen lost to Chinese World No 3 Dai Yun.

Even Danish coach conceded the odds was not in his side before the match began.

"Now we are looking forward to win the Uber Cup," said Danish coach Kenneth Larsen on Friday. Waiting until the journalists around finished laughing, Larsen grinned and continued, "Although it is almost impossible."
