Li Ruihuan Arrives in Lima for Official Visit to PeruChairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Li Ruihuan arrived Lima Friday afternoon for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Peru government.This is the first time for CPPCC National Committee Chairman to visit this South American country, and also the last leg of Li' s ongoing four-nation tour of America. Li and his entourage were welcomed at the airport by Foreign Minister of Peru Fernando De Trazegnies and other senior officials. Chinese Ambassador to Peru Ren Jingyu and his staff were also at the airport welcoming Li. A written speech was delivered at the airport, in which Li said that peoples of China and Peru have enjoyed traditional friendship and long time contacts in history. Since diplomatic ties were established in 1971, bilateral relationship has turn a new leaf, Li said. In recent years, friendly cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy and trade, science and technology, culture and education has scored satisfactory development. The two countries have shared common language over international affairs and made endless effort in safeguarding world peace, promoting solidarity and cooperation between developing countries and pushing forward the establishment of new international order of politics and economy, Li said. The CPPCC National Committee chairman reaffirmed that Chinese people have valued greatly the friendship with their Peru counterpart and Chinese government is willing to further strengthen cooperation of mutual benefit with Peru on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and common development. Li hopes that his current visit will be helpful to enhance mutual understanding, expand exchanges and cooperation and push forward the relationship of friendly cooperation between China and Peru. Before this, Li has already paid successful visits to Canada, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.
