Valuable Works of Art Exhibited in Macao

Four paintings by well-known Spanish artist Pablo Picasso are among the 89 valuable works of art being exhibited at the Macao Landmark Conference and Exhibition Center.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday afternoon to launch the exhibition which will last till June 2. It is believed to be an exhibition of the highest artistic plane ever held in Macao.

The works of art were donated by German couple of Peter and Irene Ludwig in 1996 to the China National Museum of Fine Arts.

Most of the works were created in the 1970s and 1980s by artists from countries such as France, Germany, the United States, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Romania, Switzerland, Cuba, Austria, Britain, Russia and Brazil.

The four works by Picasso are brushwork "Figures," oil on canvas "The Man and the Woman next to the Vase of Flowers, bust," oil on canvas "The Man with the pipe" and oil on canvas "Musketeer with Bird."
