Sino-American Seminar on Venture CapitalRepresentatives of prominent investment houses from China, the United States, and Canada gathered here today to discuss venture capital operations at present and in the future.During the seminar, some experts said that venture capital has played a key role in stimulating economic development in the United States, and this can provide useful suggestion for venture capital operations in China. Experts also noted that China is trying to become one of the world's most vigorous venture capital markets. Hu Ying, chief executive officer of the Venture Capital Union of China pointed out that China's venture capital market has developed rapidly in recent years, and statistics show that the country now has about 7.4 billion yuan (892 million U.S. dollars) of these funds. He predicted that as China perfects regulation and policies concerning venture capital, this market will attract additional funds. The seminar has invited the president of the SCI company of the United States to address the seminar, in a bid to help domestic venture capital organizations learn more about this field. China's venture capital operations began in 1985, and the China Venture Capital Network was founded in 1999.
