Shanghai Open to Introduce Women's Competition

The Shanghai Open tennis tournament, which was inaugurated two years ago as an ATP event, will introduce women's competition this year, organizers said in Shanghai on Thursday.

The total prize money will be 140,000 U.S. dollars for the women and 375,000 U.S. dollars for the men.

The tournament will be held in the Shanghai Tennis Center from October 16-22.
