China Enter First Thomas Cup Finals for Decade

China stopped the surge of South Korea to storm into the finals of the Thomas Cup which parred them for a decade back to 1992 with a 3-1 victory on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur.

China, who lost four straight times in the semi-finals of the biannual event since 1992, will meet the winners of Friday's semi- final clash between Indonesia and Denmark. Chinese top- ranked player Xia Xuanze handled off the hottest singles Lee Hyun Li 11-6, 11-5 to start the crackdown of the Koreans.

Yu Jihao and Chen Qiqiu gave a hard time to world champion Kim Dong Moon and Ha Tae Kwon before surrendered to the world top- ranked pair 15-11, 5-15, 15-9.

But Ji Xinpeng, ranked eighth in the world, took the crucial point on the second sinlges when he outclassed Ahn Jae Chang, 15- 12, 15-10.

Zhang Jun and Zhang Wei ended up winless records in the past two clash against Lee Dong Soo and Yoo Yong Sung, winning 15-9, 12- 15, 15-9.
