Ji'nan University to Build College in Zhuhai

Ji'nan University, based in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, will build a college in Zhuhai in cooperation with the local government.

The college is designed for people of Chinese origin living overseas who want to pursue higher education.

According to an agreement signed between the university and Zhuhai, the city will provide the new college with 400,000 sq m of land in the city's downtown area, two buildings and some equipment for free. The city will also provide financial subsidies to teaching staff at the new college.

Ji'nan University will also increase investment for the new college to improve the campus and increase teaching and scientific research, said Liu Renhuai, president of the University. He invites more people from Hong Kong and Macao to obtain a higher education at the college.

The college is just a five minute ride from Gongbei Customs Checkpoint, the gateway to Macao. It is not known when the college will start enrolling students, but it will able to accommodate 3, 000 full-time undergraduate students in five years. Courses for advanced studies will also be opened later.
