Norwegian Parliament President Hails Cooperation With China
Norwegian Parliament President Kirsti Kolle Grondahl met with a delegation from the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) in Oslo on Thursday and spoke highly of the cooperation between the NPC and the Norwegian Parliament, said reports reaching here Friday.
The delegation, led by Chen Guangyi, director of the NPC's financial and economic committee, arrived in Norway Wednesday for a five-day visit.
Grondahl said the exchange of views between the two sides on legislation could help promote the Sino-Norwegian relations. Noting that the NPC is playing a more and more important role in China's politics, economy and legislation, she expressed the hope for closer relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Chen said the relations between the two countries have been growing rapidly since 1954 when they established diplomatic ties. He called on Norwegian businessmen to invest in the western areas of China.
