Suzhou University in east China's Jiangsu Province celebrated its 100th anniversary on May18. The university, based in the historic city of Suzhou, now has 11 departments, including those of philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and management studies.
Over the past century, the university has turned out a number of well-known scientists and politicians such as Fei Xiaotong, Lei Jieqiong, Sun Qimeng, Zhao Puchu, and Tsung-Dao Lee. Encompassing 135 hectares, the university has more than 35,000 students and 4,150 teachers.
Suzhou University also has three centers for post-doctoral students, 14 centers for doctoral candidates, and 73 centers for graduate students.
