Five Billion to Renovate 20 Airports in China's West

China will inject five billion yuan into renovations and extensions of 20 airports to hasten its west development.

It is reported that backward transportation is the major factor that handicaps China's west development. The twenty airports to be renovated and with extension constructions built will greatly narrow the gap between the country's west and its developed east. A leader with the Infrastructure Section of State Development Planning Council said that the focus will be on the construction of feeder airports for tourism. Funds to be in need, including 800 million yuan from treasury bonds, 100 million from concerned sectors, some hundred million of investment from abroad and funds locally raised are estimated at five billion yuan.

The airports to be renovated and expansions built are Chengdu, Kunming, Simao, Urumqi, Xianyang, Geermu, Dunhuang, Luzhou, Beihai, qiemo, Guangyuan, Mianyang, Panzhihua, Jiuzhaigou, Wanzhou of Shichuan, Tongren of Guizhou, Lincang of Yunnan, Zhongchuan of Gansu, Arletai and kuche of Xinjiang.
