"2000 World Chinese Forum" to Take Place in Qingdao
The "2000 World Chinese Forum" will be Held in September in Qingdao, Shandong Province.
According to the Qingdao city government, the forum, scheduled for September 20 and 21, will be attended by about 500 Chinese delegates, including 100 regular delegates in and outside China and 300 nonvoting delegates. It will be the first high-ranking gathering of the Chinese from around the world.
The forum is sponsored by the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation, Development Research Center of the State Council, and the Shandong provincial government. The purpose of the forum is "Kinship, Cooperation, Development". The theme is "21st Century: China's Economy--Sic-Tech Vista".
The forum has three features: the trend of the world economic development and its influence on China's economy and prospect in the 21st century; and the trend of international sci-tech development and its influence on China's sci-tech and vista in the 21st Century; and, the influence of China's joining the WTO on Domestic and overseas Chinese's economy and future prospect.
