CPPCC Vice Chairman Meets U.K. Labor Party Guests
Wan Guoquan, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, met Wednesday with a delegation from the Labor Party of the United Kingdom headed by Chairman of the Parliamentary Labor Party Clive Soley.
Wan, also vice-chairman of the Chinese Association for International Understanding, told the British guests that China welcomes friendly and candid exchanges with other countries in the world so as to promote mutual understanding. He also briefed the British guests on China's current political and economic situations, as well as the national strategy to develop the west.
Soley, in return, said that the Labor Party is amazed at China' s achievements in the last 20 years. Open and friendly exchanges and dialogues between the U.K. and China is conducive to the development of constructive relations, he said.
Soley and his entourage arrived in China on May 14 as the guests of the Chinese Association for International Understanding.
