Red Cross Aid Disaster-hit Romania, Djibouti

The Red Cross Society of China ( RCSC) Wednesday announced a 50,000-U.S.-dollar donation and a 30,000-U. S.-dollar donation for disaster victims in Romania and Djibouti.

A RCSC spokesman said the 50,000 dollars and Red Cross aid valued at 300,000 yuan (about 36,000 dollars) were provided to Romania because the country is suffering from the most serious floods in the past 30 years. Houses, bridges and power supply facilities in its 15 counties have been severely damaged.

Successive drought in Djibouti has caused poor harvest and food and drinking water shortages among 150,000 local residents, the spokesman said.
