DHL Expands Business in China

With the launch of the Asian cargo transport center in Hong Kong, DHL, an American express company, is expanding its business in interior China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

According to a DHL official, the company cooperates with Dragon Airlines and Eastern Airlines to link their flights between Hong Kong and Shanghai with DHL's Asian air transport network, so that the cargo delivery period will be shortened by average two hours.

The official said the network will covers some other major cities in China, including Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. In addition, DHL also cooperates with Cathay Pacific Airlines to increase 32 flights for Cargo transport weekly.

Statistics show that DHL's express deliveries from China to the United States increased by 20 percent last year. And DHL-Sinotrans, the company's first joint-venture express service in China, has accounted for 35 percent of the country's international express market with annual business hitting 400 million yuan.
