Chinese and British Middle School Students Chat On-Line


Meet British Students Online
School children from China and the United Kingdom chatted and took part in several collaborative computer graphic projects via chat rooms and video conference software this past Sunday in Beijing.

As an important part of the closing event of the third Zhongguancun IT Festival, Friendship 2000-- UK and China Internet Link activities were co-sponsored by the British Embassy Cultural and Education Section in Beijing and the Organizing Committee of the IT Festival.

Twenty students from each country aged 16-17 communicated in English on topics including "teenagers of the past, present and future" and "cultural similarities and differences."

The Chinese children, from the middle school attached to People 's University, displayed the logo they designed for the UK-China live exchange.

Yin Fang, an official from the British Embassy said the activity organizers' aim was to dive into on-line quality education and stimulate exchanges between Chinese and British students.
