Li Ruihuan on Ideological Emancipation

Visiting Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference Li Ruihuan said in Caracas Monday morning that a political party, a nation and a nationality must insist on continuous ideological emancipation and pay attention to the realities.

"Only through ideological emancipation can a political party, a country and a nationality cope with the sophisticated world and catch up with the pace of the time," said Li in a meeting with Venezuela President Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias.

They can not move forward, or rather become feeble and die if they do everything proceeding from book worship with a rigid way of thinking and with superstition rampant, as well as if they dare not break through the traditional conventions and dogma, Li elaborated.

There doesn't exist such kind of a matter in the world that will never change, Li stressed. Thus ideological emancipation is not once for all but endless, he added.

Something that is positive to development and thus be recognized during a certain period of time could be one that hinders development and be rejected at another period of time, Li noted.

He called on people to find demerits of themselves and be good at surmounting themselves.

"People's thoughts are reflection of objective realities, and correct thoughts are undoubtedly correct reflection of objective realities. So the purpose of ideological emancipation is just to make people's thoughts accord with objective realities rather than lag behind them," said the CPPCC National Committee Chairman, who is in Caracas for a two-day official visit.

People who want to emancipate minds must base it on, proceed from, respect and study hard the objective realities rather than think at random with no idea of objective realities, Li added.

He noted that this is an important principle for people to ponder over matters and then take actions.

Li owed all the achievements China has scored over the past 20 years of reforms and opening up to ideological emancipation and respecting realities. " China should still insist on this experience if it wants to solve difficulties and strive for new achievements," he concluded.

Chavez told Li that China's experience of insisting on ideological emancipation and respecting realities has very important enlightenment for his country.
